In the summer of 2026, something strange and wonderful happened in football stadiums across North America. A Viking horn sounded. Thousands of Norwegian supporters sat down on the ground, shoulder to shoulder, in the shape of a longship. A drum began to beat — slowly at first, then faster and faster — and the crowd pulled invisible oars through invisible water, roaring one word in rhythm:

“Ro! Ro! Ro!” — Row! Row! Row!

They call it the Viking Row. It began as one fan’s idea in an Oslo bar and swept the World Cup like a storm tide. It was performed on escalators in Boston, at a baseball game in New York, in the Norwegian Parliament, outside the Royal Palace, and — after Norway stunned Brazil — it was led on the pitch by the the biggest Viking of them all: Erling Braut Haaland. This book answers those questions — generation by generation, all the way back to the longships.
